Fun loving lad Dexter is a 2 and a half year old Kelpie cross Collie who really enjoys a game of fetch. He will play with teddies and other toys, but if there is a ball available then fetch is the best game ever! He loves it so much that he would play all day if he could, so needs his adopters to tell him when playtime is over. He adores a fuss, head and back scratches are his favourite, he will lean in or jump onto the sofa with you for more. This wonderful boy is ready to find his new home.
Dexter is looking for a calm and predictable home in a quiet, rural area, with active adopters who can take him on lots of exploring, sniffy adventures in quiet walking areas and will provide him with all the care and attention he deserves. He can live with sixth form/college aged children who will play nicely with him and give him space to rest when needed and to eat. Dexter is very worried by other dogs so is looking to be the only pet in the home and would need to go on walks in quiet areas where there are minimal dogs. He is a clever lad, he already has ‘sit’ in the bag and is in the process of learning his muzzle training as he will be going home on a lead and muzzle disclaimer, he would be up for learning more in short, sweet sessions with the help of a tasty treat. Dexter has been toilet trained in the past, but may need a refresher in his new home so a private, secure garden with high fencing is essential. Dexter settles quite nicely in the home and could be left for up to 2-4 hours, this would need to be built up slowly once he has had time to settle in. Dexter will need to meet his adopters multiple times prior to going home, so please bear this in mind when applying. Please note that should you be shortlisted, our rehoming process usually takes up to 7 days, and potential adopters would be required to come to the centre to meet him within 48hrs of being shortlisted.
