Hello there! My name is Rex – also known as Mr Tall, Dark and Handsome! 🐾
I’m a gorgeous 2½ year old big lad with the heart (and enthusiasm!) of a puppy. Before coming to the centre, my world was quite small, so lots of everyday experiences are still new and exciting for me. Thanks to the amazing team here, I’m discovering the big wide world at my own pace – and I’m absolutely loving it!
Everyone keeps telling me how brilliantly I’m doing and how proud they are of the progress I’ve made in such a short time. I especially enjoy being told I’m a “good boy” – praise and affection are my favourite things!
Although I am still a bit nervous when I am getting out and about, I love sniffing, exploring, and taking in all the new sights and smells. I’m still learning my lead manners and can be a little enthusiastic at times (especially when I spot another dog and bark at them), but this is all part of my learning journey, and I’m already showing lovely moments of calm, polite walking that make my carers very happy.
I’m a super affectionate, gentle giant who adores human company. I can be a little more confident with female handlers at first, but once I know you, I’ll happily be your best friend. I really believe I was meant to be a lap dog – expect lots of leaning, paw placing, and attempts to get as close to you as possible!
When I’m off lead, I like to stay close to my handler, and while I’m still figuring out how to play, I’m getting there. What I do know for sure is that cuddles and attention mean far more to me than treats, so I’d love a home where I’m not left alone for long periods and can enjoy plenty of quality time with my people.
I haven’t lived with children before, but I could potentially share a home with older, dog savvy children who are comfortable with my size and bouncy enthusiasm. I’m not suitable for a home with cats, and introductions to other dogs would need to be done carefully, as I’m still building my confidence and skills around them.
I’m a beautiful young dog with so much love to give and a wonderful future ahead of me. With the right family to guide me and continue my training, I know I’ll make an incredibly loyal and rewarding companion.
I’ve got all my paws crossed that my perfect forever home is out there waiting for me 💕🐾
