DASHER - Saluki
£135 estimated adoption fee
- Location:Potters Bar
All animals, like us, have individual needs and requirements. By matching these needs we optimise the chance of a successful adoption placement. To make it easier for you to see if your home environment is compatible with the animal you have selected we have bullet pointed Dasher's specific needs below. Please before beginning the application process for an animal from Southridge double check that the home you can offer meets Dasher's needs. We would like very much to be able to respond to every adoption application we receive however at the moment this is just not possible for us to do. Therefore, unless your application matches the required criteria we will not be able to email you back, similarly if we receive your application after the animal you are interested in has been reserved. Please continue to monitor the animals we have up for adoption because one that is a perfect match for you and your home will hopefully become available soon.Thank you very much for considering adopting one of our animals. We really appreciate your kindness and support.Dasher and Eve (with the fluffy ears) find themselves at Southridge after being found by an RSPCA Inspector. Eve is a shy girl. Tthis may have something to do with her being deaf, but she is slowly starting to come out of her shell. She loves to go for walks and is to be homed with Dasher as she relies hugely on him for confidence. They can not live with any small animals such as cats or rabbits and, when out on walks, as `sight hounds`, they will be very interested in wildlife. A family unit with children of 14 years and older would be great for them. However, we`re looking for a quiet household as Eve can be timid. We don`t know if they`ve ever lived in a home environment previously so training in all areas will be needed. Due to their energy levels, excitement and speed you will need to be able to offer them a large secure garden with fencing height at a minimum of 6ft +, preferably a small holding with a secure area for them to let off steam would be ideal. If you live close to a training field which can be hired out for private use this may also be an option but they would still need a large garden area. Training classes will be essential. They are very strong when being walked together and currently this is a two person job. They do pull towards other dogs and animals when on the lead, this and other issues will need addressing. They love to` play` fight with each other which can get over boisterous at times. In addition to their walks they will need lots of mental stimulation to tire them out. They are still very puppy like in their nature. We are looking for an owner who has experience preferably with sight hounds and behaviour in general. It is important that the balance between correcting their behaviour and allowing freedom is understood. A beautiful pair of hounds in desperate need of a loving home.Amongst other things, the main criteria matches are:- Must be homed with Eve.- Securely fenced (min 6ft) small holding or very large garden.- Family members over 14yrs.- No cats or other small pets.- To attend training and socialisation classes.- Experience of `sight hounds` preferred.
