Chai is a 2 and a half year old Belgian Shepherd and Podenco Cross that has the sweetest, silliest most wonderful nature. She will thrive with an active lifestyle where she can do plenty of exploring and adventuring! She loves playing with toys and loves fetching tennis balls! Chai is a really smart cookie who loves to learn, especially if a tasty treat or her favourite toy is on offer. She has shown us at the centre and in her foster home what a dab paw she is at training, picking up new tricks very fast and retaining the things she learns well. She will be a wonderful training buddy and working with her will be very rewarding if her adopters put in the time and effort. Chai will need to have lots of daily mental and physical stimulation to avoid her becoming bored and frustrated. Don’t get us wrong, she loves a snooze and a cuddle, but this definitely comes after play time! Chai is a lovely young girl with stacks of potential to become a fantastic, fun addition to your home and will certainly help you get your daily steps in!

Chai is looking for an active and fun family home with adopters who will play lots of games and do training with her and take her for lots of nice walks! She is still learning all of her manners and can become bouncy and mouthy when she is excited so Chai will need a home with adult adopters who ideally have experience in owning active, working type dogs and who are willing to do lots of positive training and enriching activities to keep her busy and engaged. She needs a fair bit of attention, time for training, daily exercise and play so she would be best suited as the only dog in her home and would benefit from having walking buddies to interact and play with. She has happily lived with caged birds in her previous home but cannot live with cats or other small furry animals. She is an absolute superstar in the vets and was housetrained in her previous home. Although she travels quietly, Chai can become quite active in the car and tends to try and move around, so we would recommend that she travels in the boot with a separator to keep her safe and secure. She can be left on her own for short periods of time once she has settled in but she would be best suited to a home where she can have lots of human company. Chai will need to meet her adopters multiple times prior to going home to build a strong bond so please bear this in mind when applying. She may need visits from our behaviour team once she goes home so adopters will need to live within 45 minutes driving distance from the Canterbury Rehoming Centre so please bear this in mind prior to applying for her. If you rent your property, please have written permission from your landlord ready once you have submitted your application to avoid delays, as it will be required early on in the rehoming process if you are shortlisted.
