Star - male Belgian Shepherd Dog (Malinois)

Star is a sensitive soul who has had a lot of ups and downs in his life. He was in a stray pound for a year before coming into our care and was then rehomed by us. Sadly he’s been returned to us as he wasn’t coping when being left by himself, and was quite mouthy. He can be a little unsure when meeting people but warms up quickly with a few treats and kind words, and he loves to give people his paw when he's comfortable. He'd love to find a home with a family that can take him on lots of adventures to make up for the time he's spent in kennels, and who are willing to put a little training in with him. Star can sometimes get grabby and it shouldn’t be encouraged, and help is always on hand from the Training team at the centre beyond adoption. Shepherds are notoriously smart and Star is no exception, and he picks things up quickly. It's best that he has someone at home with him most of the day as he has struggled when being left alone. He’s very affectionate and does like a fuss form people he knows. When Star meets other dogs he is usually very friendly but a little intense, but sometimes he can take an instant dislike to one. It's best that he is the only dog at home but should definitely be kept socialised as he does enjoy canine company. Star LOVES to play with toys! He likes to throw them around but care should be taken that he doesn’t get over excited and resort to grabbing.

Star is looking for a home with no other dogs but with a family that will keep him socialised, and where everyone is the household is an adult. he needs slow introductions to new people and someone around for most of the day with him. Star is house trained.
