Earl is an affectionate, fun, gorgeous 5 year old Boxer Cross who absolutely loves his humans! Although he is a big, fun lad, he has a really sensitive side and sometimes has big feelings about new things, so he likes to take his time in certain situations and with new people. Once he knows you and you’ve build a bond, you'll have the most hilarious, goofy and super sweet best friend. He enjoys a good fuss and bum scratches and running around with you, and he is starting to learn to play with toys. We consider Earl's primary breed to be Boxer and therefore do not believe that he would be considered an American Bully XL type. Earl will make a loyal, loving addition to your home. Earl is looking for a home with a loving family that will cherish him and shower him with all the love he deserves. Earl is looking for an adult only home where there will be minimal visitors as he needs a quieter, calmer environment and a structured routine where he can thrive. He would benefit from an initial period of time without any visitors as he will need a bit of time to feel settled in his new home. With the right approach, Earl can cope with calm walking pals, but as he does have a few struggles around bouncy dogs and isn’t sure how to interact with them, he would be best suited to walks in quieter, low dog populated areas when he first goes home while he builds his confidence. Earl was housetrained in his previous home but he may need a refresher when he gets adopted. Earl is quite an agile boy and will need a garden with minimum 6 foot fencing to keep him safe. He knows lots of his basics and has some fun tricks under his belt too but would benefit from adopters who will teach him lots of new things and practice what he already knows. Earl can be left on his own for up to around 4 hours at a time as he settles nicely when left, but this would ideally be started gradually and increased over a period of time once he has found his feet and ideally after a walk so he has used up all his energy and is ready for a snooze. Earl will need to meet his adopters multiple times prior to going home to build a strong bond. He may need visits from our behaviour team once he goes home so adopters will need to live within 45 minutes driving distance from the Canterbury Rehoming Centre so please bear this in mind prior to applying for him. If you rent your property, please have written permission from your landlord ready once you have submitted your application to avoid delays, as it will be required early on in the rehoming process if you are shortlisted.
