Skye - female American Bulldog

Poor Skye has had so many ups and downs in her short life and she has spent most of it in our care. She is four years old and began her Dogs Trust journey as such a frightened girl, not helped by the fact that she is completely deaf, but she has really blossomed. The dog who was afraid of everybody now has so many friends she doesn't know what to do with them! Skye wags her tail so hard when she sees a familiar face and loves to be smooched. She had to have cruciate surgery on both her legs in early 2022 and a wonderful foster family stepped in to help her recovery, and even teach her sign language! Skye knows lots of signs and is generally a much happier and more settled dog since spending time with the family. She's a big girl but loves nothing more than squishing herself onto your lap. She is house trained and lets you know when she needs to go out, and she loves to sunbathe in the garden. Skye will walk happily with other calm dogs now too, but she won't tolerate anything too big and boisterous. An understanding and patient home is all Skye needs to really be herself, and she will repay you with bucket loads of love and affection. She likes a calm environment that doesn't have too much movement or things going on to overwhelm her, it can be difficult when you can't hear anything. Skye will happily travel and go out for adventures with you, but she doesn't really like to be left alone much and craves company.

Skye needs an adult only home with no other pets, although she likes to walk with other calm dogs. She is deaf but knows lots of signs. We have sought expert advice and we do not believe Skye would be considered an American XL Bully type.
