  • Breed:Cocker Spaniel
24-04-24 Mumbles originally came to us from a breeder to find his forever home. He was briefly adopted but has been returned as although he shared a kennel with dogs here, he struggled to share a home with them. For this reason Mumbles will be looking for a home where he can be the only dog and where he can have all the fuss and attention to himself. Mumbles can be very jealous of other dogs when they are recieving fuss from his people and would show some guarding behaviour over the humans towards other dogs. He also guards his food from other dogs, but has been fine with humans taking his food bowls away etc. Mumbles will be looking for an adult only home with no visiting children and with adopters who have experience with dogs with similar issues. Mumbles was treated for a ear infection here and his ears must have been quite painful and this has resulted in him not being keen on his ears being touched and he will become quite fearful and distressed, so his adopters will need to work on this with him as he can panic and may make the wrong decision if pushed out of his comfort zone. He is also uncomfortable with his mouth being touched at the moment. Mumbles is a very affectionate boy, especially once he gets to know you and he just loves a cuddle! He is very active and so will be looking for an active home with adopters who will keep him both physically and mentally stimulated. He walks well on a lead and is mostly well behaved but can be reactive to other dogs when out, so his adopters would need to work on this with him too. He absolutely loves his food and is very food motivated so treats may be the way to his heart. He loves toys, especially antlers and can be quite playful but again sometimes does show guarding behaviours over his toys. He isn't keen on being left home alone at the moment and will bark, so his adopters will need to gently build this up with him and get him used to being left alone for short periods. In the right home, with adopters who are able to correctly manage his behaviour he is going to be the most wonderful boy and will truly thrive!
