Rose (Was Galen) - Female Cocker Spaniel

01-02-2024 Rose is a special girl who needs a special home. She has been returned after adoption as she goes into a complete panic when being picked up and handled at times and then makes the wrong decisions out of fear. Rose has been through a lot and has little trust in people, she came to us from a breeder originally. Despite Rose's fear she does take treats from people and when she knows you and you go slowly you can stroke her gently on the head. She is happy in the company of other dogs and LOVES to play with toys, she just needs a lot of time, patience and experienced handling over time to help her learn to trust people's intentions and help her become comfortable. Rose will need a very experienced home to ensure she is set up for success with adopters that understand she needs lots of time and continuous work to help her improve. Rose is now used to living in a home but is still learning to go out on walks in secure places. Rose would ideally need a home where she can go on walks when ready in very secure areas where handling would not be needed unless she chooses so that she doesn't make any wrong decisions in panic. Rose can and will react in fear if she is pushed and even now is still not comfortable being handled by people - her adopters will need to be aware of this and slowly put the work in that she needs to put her trust in people in her own time. She will need an adult only home with no children or visiting children. Rose is such a special girl who has been through so much and really needs that special person to come forward and make her world complete. Rose has a Grade 1 heart murmur, she doesn't require any medication for this but it is something her adopters and their vet will need to monitor going forwards.
