Lighten - Male Dachshund

25-04-2024 Lighten is a very handsome little man who is quite scared at the moment and unsure of our intentions. He will run away from you in kennels but is easy to handle and does start to settle in your arms after a little time. Lighten has come to us as an unsold puppy looking for his forever home. With some TLC and positivity he should start to feel safe and come out of his shell to show his delightful puppy personality. Like all puppies he will need help learning new skills such as housetraining and walking on a lead/harness. Lighten will need a calm home with plenty of enrichment, polite socialisation to the world and positive reinforcement training to ensure he grows into a well rounded boy. He will need an adult only home as children will be too overwhelming for him at the moment. Lighten adores the company of other dogs and shows a waggy tail and lots of interest in them, he loves to share his bed and snuggle up amongst his kennel friends. He has very clearly never known life without their company. Lighten can happily live with kind resident dogs that doesn't mind a puppy still learning his manners and their company is crucial for Lighten getting used to his new life. Lighten currently has an undescended testicle which may develop as he grows but adopters need to be aware that it will be a bigger surgery when he is neutered if they haven't descended by then. He also had an entropian of his right eye which our vets have repaired. Lighten is such a gentle sweet boy and will flourish in a loving home.
