27-03-24 Pocket is a sweet girl who has come from her breeder to find a loving home. She has had an inguinal hernia repair operation and needs to lose around 1kg or so in weight to be a more healthy size, We are told that she is not keen on other dogs and wouldn't like to share her space so she is looking for a home where she can be the only dog in the home. She has been introduced to larger dogs here and in the right cirucmstances could be homed with a dog larger than her. She is looking for an experienced adopter who can work with her and her issues and hopefully in the future she will become more comfortable in the company of other dogs. Until then we feel she needs an adult only home where she will not be let off lead unless in a totally safe and secure area. Pocket doesnt yet know how to walk on a lead and hasnt lived inside before so will need to start from scratch with house training and getting used to walking on a harness. These will take time and you will need to be patient with her always as she is quite nervous of people and so needs to learn to trust and enjoy their company too. She is a sweet girl who is good to handle but she isnt the most straightforward pooch in the rescue so please see her true potential and be happy to take time and effort to help her achieve it. As a dachsy she has a unique shape and traits so will suit a home where her adopter has good knowledge of the breed. This girl will be amazing once she is all settled. 08-04-24 UPDATE This little beauty is Pocket and she is a stunning five year old dachshund who has come to Many Tears to find her happy ever after. When Pocket first arrived she was overwhelmed and terrified of everything, she didn't know how to enjoy life but she did love her food, which is always a good start. As she has gained confidence she has started to wag her tail, play with toys, have zoomies in the yard and is even smashing her harness training. She does have to go as an only dog due to us being told that she doesn't like sharing her space, but she is perfectly well behaved when walking past other dogs or when a dog goes up to her kennel to say hello, she even greets Winter the JRT with a very waggy tail and goes out walking with her. Pocket is still wary of people, but allows us to handle her with no issue and with some TLC and knowing she has someone to count on, I'm sure she will settle and start to like human company. This will take time though and her new humans will have to be prepared for that. Sadly children will be far too much for her, so she is looking for an adult only home to make sure she is set up to succeed in her new home. I love looking after this little girl and to be able to watch her blossom in front of my eyes is wonderful, but it will be even more wonderful to wave her off when she goes to her forever home. How can anyone resist this face?
