Spike - male Dachshund (Miniature Long Haired)

Spike is the sweetest little lad who is looking for an understanding family to adopt him. He hates to be alone and doesn't like us leaving his kennel, even when he's sharing it with another dog. When Spike knows you he is very friendly and adores being made a fuss of, but he can be a little hesitant when meeting new people. It's best that he's allowed to approach people himself, rather than have an interaction force don him. Things can be very intimidating when you're only seven inches high! Spike is very friendly with other dogs but will react at them from a distance at times. Face to face he is great, and we're confident he could live with another dog following a successful meeting at the centre. Help with Spike's fear of being alone is always on hand from the staff at the centre and will be discussed before his adoption, as well as support continued once he goes home.

Spike can live with a well matched dog and children of high school age. He has separation anxiety and will need someone at home with him full time. He is house trained. Spike does come with some medical issues therefore it is important that the owners are prepared to take this on.
