Wheat is a super sweet, playful and handsome 2 year old Wheaten Terrier who has the waggiest tail in all the land! He loves nothing more than playing with his toys on his own or with his handlers and when he zooms around, he does so with absolute glee! Wheat loves a tasty treat and this will be a great way to engage him in training and build a bond with him. He is such a ray of sunshine and will bring lots of joy and laughter to a lucky family. You can see more photos and videos of Wheat and all the other dogs in our care on our Instagram account @DogsTrust_Canterbury

Wheat is looking for a fun, active home with a family who will give him lots of love, play fun games with him and who will continue to build on his training. Wheat is a good boy with his handling and could share his home with sensible children aged 12 years and over who will play and interact gently with him, giving him space when he needs it and who understand that he can get bouncy when he plays! Wheat can be a little unsure around dogs, so he would love to live in a low dog populated areas with owners that can advocate for him when meeting other dogs on walks so he has space. So that he can relax in his home, he needs to be the only pet in his household. Wheat has a few bits of basic training under his belt and he walks nicely on his lead, but he would benefit from adopters who will continue to train him in the home and he will need housetraining, so access to his own private garden will be essential for this and for pottering and playing. His garden will need secure 6 foot solid walls or fencing to keep him safe. Wheat could potentially cope with being on his own for up to around 4 hours at a time, but this should be introduced gradually after a settling in period with lots of company. Wheat will need to meet his adopters multiple times to build a strong bond prior to going home so please bear this in mind when applying. If you rent your property, please have written permission from your landlord ready once you have submitted your application to avoid delays, as it will be required early on in the rehoming process if you are shortlisted.
