STIRLING - Domestic Shorthair crossbreed
Adoption fee: Please check with the rescue
- Breed:Domestic Short-hair
Stirling came in to the Centre from a hoarding situation, where his owner had too many animals to cope with. Stirling had obviously had to fight for food; this was apparent from the scratch scars on his face. Even now it is clear when we put his meals down for him that he is wary that we may try to take his food back off him. While he eats he is uncomfortable being watched and is constantly looking around, suspicious of it being taken away.At first he was very shut-down and unresponsive and would hide away in his bed. He has progressed greatly since being in our care and now sits out at the front of his pen taking in everything going on around him. It appears that he wants to interact but he is clearly still very conflicted and sometimes he will swipe if he becomes overwhelmed and feels crowded. Our concern is that, after three months in the Centre, Stirling has come as far as he can in a cattery environment and that what he now really needs is a home where he can continue to heal mentally.Stirling needs somewhere where he can come around at his own pace and eventually we are hopeful that he will learn to trust people. He would need to be an only pet and he would also need to be with someone who can accept that, for the time being at least, he is very much a "hands off" kind of cat - so definitely no young children. If you think you could give Stirling the home he so desperately needs then please do get in touch.
