Henry came into us with his brother, Hickory, with very little information. We do not know much of their history prior to our care but it is evident they have not had the easiest of starts to their lives as they are both worried by people and handling. They have built bonds with their carers at the centre but their new family must be willing to make multiple visits and take things slow with them initially. They rely on each over and are more confident in each others company so they will need a home together. Hickory and Henry will need patient and understanding adopters who are willing to put the effort into continuing their training and helping them grow in confidence, our dedicated behaviour team will be on hand to offer advice for this. They both have very sweet personalities, which given time, patience and understanding are bound to shine through in the home.
Please note that you won’t be applying for a specific dog, but you can tell us what type of dog you’re looking for. You can also add up to four favourites to your application to give us an idea of the dogs you like, so we can consider you for similar dogs. Once you’ve submitted your application, we can’t change or update your favourites. Adding a dog to your application is not a reservation but a guide for us to find you a match.

Say hello to Henry! Henry is an adorable 2 year old Foxhound who is looking for a home with his brother Hickory. Hickory & Henry came into us with very little information and are looking for a home that can be understanding of their worried nature and help them learn the world is not such a scary place and help build their confidence. They are looking for a home with no other pets. Hickory & Henry could live with older children aged 14years and over. They would like a home with their own secure garden so they have a safe space to explore and toilet in while they build their confidence. They would benefit from a home with access to quiet walking routes without the need for car travel as this is something they are not used to and find worrying. Leaving hours will need to be minimal to begin with until they feel comfortable in their new home and have grown in confidence. If you live in rented accomodation, please have written landlord permission in hand before applying to adopt a dog.
