Adoption fee: Please check with the rescue

  • Centre:Dogs Trust
  • Location:Ilfracombe
  • Sex:Female
  • Breed:Jack Russell Terrier
Lizzie is a two-year-old Jack Russell Terrier cross. She is a pocket rocket, with oodles of energy and she has a big personality too. She loves her toys and will go, go go, when it comes to toy play. She enjoys having a game of fetch with you. Lizzie is fussy with her food and likes high value treats like the real tasty, meaty ones, or cheese, chicken, or hot dog. Lizzie is happy to travel in the car which is ideal to get to those quiet walks in low dog populated areas. She will bark when another dog is in a certain distance of her; her doggy social skills is something that she is working towards and she will need her future adopters to continue to help and support her with this skill, using positive reward training, we can show you how. Lizzie can make doggy friends and walk alongside them, and she can enjoy a play with them too, but she is a bit grumpy if the other dog is near her human or her toys. Lizzie is instantly friendly with new people, and she likes to meet and greet, she is like a spring, with an enthusiastic greeting. Lizzie enjoys having a fuss. She is a blank canvas when it comes to her basic training; she is currently working on responding to her name and a ‘sit’.

Lizzie is looking for a loving home with adult adopters. She will need to be the only dog in the home and a home with no cats or small furries. Lizzie is a high energy dog who will need lots of physical exercise. She is looking for adopters who can provide her with quiet walks in low dog populated areas, Lizzie will bark at dogs when she first sees them. She has been able to make a few friends here after proper introductions however she will need adopters who are understanding of this and will use positive reward training to support her. Lizzie is not yet housetrained. She could cope with a reasonably busy household and will need a secure garden with high fences as she can climb. Lizzie arrived at the centre as a stray, she dislikes being left alone and therefore any time that she is left will need to be built up gradually.
