Denver - female Terrier (Jack Russell)

Denver is a complex little dog and she's only two years old. She's looking for an experienced home with an adult family who will be willing to take advice and guidance from our behaviour team in order to give her the best chance at success in her new home. Denver was worried when she first came back in to our care, but has settled well and responds happily to her handlers. She hasn't always appreciated people being hands on in the past, and has bitten before. By building trust with Denver, and doing lots of reward based training, she can learn to feel less afraid of things. She is friendly with people but likes to make her own decision about interactions, and does not appreciate people suddenly touching her, especially strangers. She is an affectionate girl when allowed to make her own decisions. With other dogs, Denver can be hit and miss. She will react negatively to some, and completely ignore others. It's important that her adopters be able to recognise the signs to avoid any incidents with other dogs. Denver LOVES toys! She really enjoys a game of "fetch" and as she can be a little obsessive about the ball, she is learning the cue "last one", that signals the end of the game.

Denver needs a home without children and as the only pet. She's house trained and will need multiple visits to her at the centre before going home.
