Max - male Terrier (Jack Russell) Cross

Max is a nervous lad who lacks confidence and worries about most situations, but he is easily won over by people. He's looking for a special family that don't have any children or other pets and can help him feel better about himself and the world around him. Max should always be given time to explore new places to help him feel safe, and not be rushed in unfamiliar situations. He can enjoys his walks when he feels safe, but is very conflicted when meeting people. He wants to be friends but worries about being handled. Some positive reward based training would go a long way with him. At home, Max will jump up on to counter tops so it's best he doesn't have access to the kitchen area when possible. When left alone he gets stressed and has previously scratched paint off doors, and has grabbed the trousers of someone leaving the room. This can be managed by using a baby gate, and help and advice is always on hand from our training and behaviour team, throughout Max's adoption and beyond. Max needs to be the only pet at home as he hasn't always reacted well to other dogs, particularly when off lead. He would benefit from some calm, well mannered friends to have walks with, and hopefully help him build his confidence back up.

Max is looking for a home without children or other pets. He struggles if left by himself even for a short time, so needs someone there all day with him.
