Adoption fee: Please check with the rescue

  • Centre:Dogs Trust
  • Location:Kenilworth
  • Sex:Male
  • Breed:Lurcher
Barnaby does have a sensitive side but has made lots of friends at the centre and has become a popular pooch amongst our volunteers! He enjoys regular walks off site taking in the countryside with his friends! Barnaby thrives with any training as he is a massive foody - he loves to learn as he knows he will get a tasty reward! This is really helpful for his ongoing training, and to help build a bond while he gets to know you. He also loooves playing fetch but can get hot and worn out quickly! Barnaby has previously lived in a home and was housetrained - he is super clean in his kennel but new owners may need to help refresh housetraining while he transitions back into a home environment. Barnaby loves to travel in the car so it will be easy to take him new, quiet places to explore away from more populated areas. Barnaby has sadly been with us a while so is desperately looking for his new family who can be really patient with him and give him loads of time to settle. Barnaby is also one of our sponsor dogs here at Kenilworth, if you would like to sponsor him please see the sponsor dog page!

Barnaby is a sensitive soul who is looking for a quiet retirement life! He can find meeting new people really overwhelming so is looking for a relaxed, adult only home with minimal visitors where he can be given lots of time to settle. He will need to meet his new family multiple times before he goes home so that he can get to know them! Barnaby prefers a quiet life and so is looking for a home away from the hustle and bustle (he wouldn’t cope with going to busy parks, towns or pubs etc.). Once Barnaby gets to know you he forms a strong bond and unfortunately does struggle with being left on his own, so will need a home where his time left alone can be built up really gradually so that he doesn’t get upset, and can learn that being alone isn’t so scary. He has been working on this with his carers and has shown good improvement and lots of potential so we feel he could possibly be left for short periods with lots of things to keep him occupied in the long run. Barnaby will need to be the only dog in his new home, but does enjoy going for walks with calm doggy friends and would like to continue this in his new home. He will need his own secure garden where he can zoom and play!
