Adoption fee: Please check with the rescue

  • Centre:Dogs Trust
  • Location:Liverpool
  • Sex:Male
  • Breed:Siberian Husky
Thor is an independent boy who has led a somewhat nomadic lifestyle up to now, which hasn't really been ideal for him. He is nervous in new environments and takes things very slowly, so his adopters will need to bear this in mind, he'll need some time to settle in. Once Thor is familiar with somewhere then he relaxes more, and lets himself be a little more "dog". His handlers have taken things very gently with him since he arrived, and now he's accepting of a brush, but he's only really comfortable with this if he knows you well. Thor has also begun to enjoy a gentle fuss, and will nudge you ever so subtly for more. He has required a lot of treatment for an ear infection since his arrival, and he's not thrilled by vet visits. His handlers have trained him to wear a muzzle, and his adopters will need to keep up a positive association with it once home, as he will need ongoing treatment. Thor enjoys time alone, resting. We would advise that he isn't disturbed whilst doing so, and that time he is left home by himself is built up gradually, to avoid creating any problems. He was living with another dog previously but had a squabble or two when approached by other dogs, so he's best as the only dog at home, although he will walk with some calm dogs here. Thor will NOT appreciate being approached by lively or off lead dogs, and will need to be kept on a lead in public spaces. He eats well, and likes to take teddies to bed with him!

Thor will need to be the only pet at home and any children will need to be aged 16 or older. Thor is house trained but not used to being left alone. He will need multiple visits to him at the centre before going home.
