Bear - male Terrier (Yorkshire)

Adoption fee: Please check with the rescue

  • Centre:Dogs Trust
  • Location:Glasgow
  • Sex:Male
  • Breed:Yorkshire Terrier
Bear is able to be left for a couple of hours a day, but we would recommend building this time up gradually. When he was younger, he had an unfortunate incident in the groomers which has led to him being worried by grooming and receiving veterinary attention. To keep him safe, he will need to wear a muzzle when he is at the vets or groomers. He would like a patient family who can work on these things slowly and take extra care in these scenarios. This little lad does have a medical condition which we can discuss with any potential adopters in more detail. He is a wee gem who can take his time to build up trust, so he will require multiple meets at the centre. Once he trusts you, he loves to play with his squeaky toys and heading out in the car for a fun adventure!

Bear is 7 year old Yorkie who is looking for a hands off home with a family who have previously owned a rescue dog or a similar breed. Bear is uncomfortable with some handling and prefers his own space. Once he gets to know you, he does enjoy jumping onto your lap for cuddles and a snooze but this relationship will only come with time. He would benefit from having quiet places around the home to retreat to if feeling overwhelmed. Although Bear enjoys socialising with other dogs on his walks, he would prefer to have the home to himself. He would also love to have his own private garden that can be accessed straight from the home that has a 5ft minimum fence. Bear will need to be kept on lead whilst out in public due to his high prey drive and worried behaviour. He would also be looking for any children in the home or visiting to be 16 years and over and he would benefit from a quiet home with limited visitors. Bear has enjoyed some time in foster where he is mostly house-trained and a great companion - he likes to help with jigsaws or reading books!
