This little gorgeous girl is Mya. Mya was not dealt a very good start in life. She was kept in a yard outside with no interaction with people, animals or the outside world until she came to us at 4 months old. Because of this Mya missed out on the vital stage of socialisation.

When Mya first arrived she was petrified of everything, and we mean everything. Everything you come across in a normal day was new to her and she had no idea how to handle anything.

Mya is a completely different dog to the one that arrived with us at 4 Months old. All of Mya's issues have been worked on, she has grown in confidence and is one of the most affectionate dogs we have had. She is really loving and cuddly - one of her favourite places to be is curled up on your lap fast asleep.

Mya has had a few applications but unfortunately they haven't progressed as she isn't the most welcoming dog to strangers. Mya has to be introduced to new people with a muzzle. This is because when a stranger comes into her home she is petrified and will go into defense mode, lunging in fear. Once she has spent a few hours with you and knows you are no danger to her, the next time she sees you she is much friendlier then the third time, you are part of the family!

Mya now loves going out for her walks and exploring new areas. She is very playful and loves bringing you a toy to play tug or fetch with. Once her confidence is built up some more with strangers, she would be absolutely brilliant at agility. She is very intelligent and likes to be busy!

Due to Mya's nervous nature she is not suitable to live with children - they are way to scary for her!

Other Dogs - We would prefer Mya to be the only dog, however she can live with another dog - introductions to other dogs are also carried out with a muzzle however she comes round to other dogs much quicker than humans. Mya currently lives in foster with 3 Border Collies and gets along fine with them but she can be very bossy if she thinks she can get away with it. Due to this we would only consider her going to a home with a dog bigger than she is.

Mya really needs a home with people who understand the balance between patience/understanding and firm boundaries! After the awful start she has endured, she really deserves a sofa to call her own. You would need to be willing to travel and meet Mya a minimum of twice - 3 times would be ideal. She is in foster near the Belford area of Northumberland.

Full, on going support will be given by the rescue and Mya's foster carer who knows her the best.

If you think you can offer this girl a chance to show you how affectionate and loving she is, please fill out an application form on our website: http://minimuttsdogrescue.co.uk/mya/
